Sindh High Court orders that Eid prayers to be offered as per 20-point SOPs

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has directed the concerned authorities that the congregational prayers of Juma, Taraweeh, Shabeena, and Eid-ul-Fitr will be offered in accordance with the 20-point standard operating procedures (SOPs).

According to the details, the 20-point SOPs are formulated by the President of the Islamic Republic Dr Arif Alvi and Pakistani ulemas of the different sects of Islam.

The high court issued the direction on a petition against the non-implementation of the SOPs formed by the PTI-led federal government of Pakistan with regard to the operation of mosques in Sindh.

The additional advocate general and the assistant attorney general said that he standard operating procedures (SOPs) were finalized by President Arif Alvi with due consultation of Pakistani ulema of all sects.

The provincial law officer said PPP-led provincial government of Sindh will apply the standard operating procedures (SOPs) at every mosque and Imambargah throughout the province for all congregational prayers, including those of Friday, Taraweeh, Shabeena and the upcoming Eid.

He further said the apex court of the country in suo motu proceedings with regard to the coronavirus pandemic, had also directed the federal and provincial governments to formulate a uniform policy in consultation with the National Coordination Committee, where policy matters were being decided.
