PIA cancels flights to Najaf and Baghdad


On Monday, PIA (Pakistan International Airline) made an announcement that they have canceled the scheduled flights to two cities of Iraq, Najaf, and Baghdad.

According to the PIA spokesperson, those flights scheduled for Arbaeen from the 27th of September have been canceled now. All the passengers can ask to refund their tickets without any deduction.

The Iraqi Government has canceled the permission which was earlier granted to the PIA flights as Iraq is experiencing a new wave of coronavirus.

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) was going to operate flights to Najaf from Lahore, Islamabad, and Karachi from September 27th till October 5th.

Ghulam Sarwar Khan Federal Minister for Aviation decided to conduct operations of the special flights in order to facilitate the pilgrims.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) last week warned the national flag carrier regarding the strict action that will be taken in case of any violation of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and also the CAA issued a fresh travel advisory.

The aviation also mentioned the violations of the COVID-19 SOPs by the airlines even though the NCOC (National Command and Operations Center) clearly implemented strict orders.
