Earlier today, news came out that the district administration of Peshawar took a decision to fine all the vehicles emitting smoke and causing noise pollution.
Under the city’s new environmental pollution control drive, Peshawar has given two months to all the motorists to get their vehicles fixed and after two months, if any car or motorcycle is seen causing noise pollution or emitting smoke than the owner of the vehicle will be charged with fine and also their vehicles will be detained.
The district administration of Peshawar has also decided to make it mandatory for all vehicles to go through a fitness test. All the drivers will be taught about how a bad engine affects the environment. This way the drivers will get an encouragement to get the fitness tests done and also to get their vehicles repaired.
The results of the fitness test of the vehicles will have to be shown to the traffic police officers.
Recently, Peshawar city released a report which showed that there are 59% of harmful particles in the air whereas according to the international standard the percentage should not exceed 35%.
