Islamabad United, in their first appearance in PSL 8 , chased down a target of 173 runs set by Karachi Kings thanks to a cracking partnership between Azam Khan and Colin Munro.

Karachi Kings, captained by Imad Wasim, won the toss and elected to bat first. They had opener Sharjeel Khan scoring 34 runs before getting dismissed by Tom Curran.

Haider Ali was the star batsman for Karachi Kings as he scored 59 runs off 45 balls before getting dismissed by Faheem Ashraf. Matthew Wade and Imad Wasim could not contribute much to the team’s total as they both got out cheaply.

In reply, Islamabad United chased down the target in 18.2 overs, thanks to Colin Munro and Azam Khan’s impressive batting performances. Munro scored 58 runs off just 28 balls, while Azam smashed 44 runs in the same number of deliveries. However, Munro got out following a mix-up between him and Azam.

Karachi Kings’ Mohammad Amir and Musa Khan gave the team an early breakthrough, dismissing Hassan Nawaz and Paul Stirling respectively. However, the team could not defend their total as Islamabad United comfortably won the match.

Islamabad United’s Shadab Khan-led bowling attack restricted Karachi Kings to 173 runs. Faheem Ashraf, Shadab Khan, Rumman Raees, and Tom Curran took two wickets each to halt Karachi Kings’ run-scoring efforts.

With this victory, Islamabad United has moved to the number 2 spot on the PSL points table while Karachi Kings are down at 5 with two losses from two matches.
