Pakistan’s wicket-keeper batter became the first player in Bangladesh Premier League 2023 to score a hundred. His unbeaten innings of 109 came off just 58 balls, which also included nine fours and eight sixes.
He is only the second Pakistan batter after Ahmed Shahzad to score a century in Bangladesh Premier League. Shehzad scored 113* off 49 balls for Barisal Burners against Duronto Rajshahi in the semifinal in 2012.
The 24-year-old is also the second Pakistan batter after Ahmed Shahzad to score a T20 hundred in any franchise tournament outside the HBL Pakistan Super League.
Azam’s father Moin Khan also holds the record of scoring a T20 hundred. Moin scored 112 off 77 balls for Karachi Dolphins against Lahore Lions in ABN AMRO Cup in 2004/05. He only played five innings in T20 cricket.
Moin Khan and Azam Khan is the first ever father-son duo to score hundreds in T20 cricket. Azam will represent Islamabad United in the eighth edition of HBL Pakistan Super League.
