22 Educational Institutes Across Pakistan Closed in 48 hours


In the last 48 hours at least 22 educational institutions across Pakistan have been sealed. The reason for closing these schools has been their non-compliance with health protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs). This is as per the National Command Operation Center official.

In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), sixteen educational institutions were closed, one in Islamabad was sealed while 5 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). On 15th September, the educational institutes opened after being closed since March 2020 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

In Karachi, the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) was closed for a couple of days because of a COVID-19 case emergence on 16th September.

The Karachi University and city campus located in the metropolis’ Garden locality will remain sealed. The students and teachers will not be permitted to enter the premises of both these campuses. But as per the IBA spokesperson, the non-teaching faculty members will continue performing their duties according to the routine.

It is reported that the first case emerged in the IBA’s Karachi University campus hostel. The student who got affected recently joined the university from Islamabad and was taking classes with other students.

Previously it was reported that a day after schools got resumed in the province, at least 8 teachers from the government-run school in KP tested positive for COVID-19. K-P Elementary and Secondary Education Department confirmed it in a statement on 16th September.
